Summer 2011 (Part 2)

Hello everybody!

Thank you for reading my blog. I hope that all of my readers are taking away something from the entries that I have written so far. This will be my last summer-titled entry. After this, I plan to blog about band camp and how marching band is progressing along. The future is unknown after band camp. The time that I will have to blog will be very limited because of the timing of all the events during the next couple of weeks. I will try to blog as frequently as I can.

I am not looking forward to the start of the 2011 marching band season 😦 Having to deal with all of the egos and other personalities involved within the group is really not fun. While I like being part of something more than myself, I just don’t feel that our hard work and dedication is really respected and pointed out by the band staff. All of the members in the group are making sacrifices, from the freshman all the way up to the section leaders and drum majors, not just the band staff.I have to start getting my chops in shape for the season! Because of the politics in the band program, I have so much to prove in the next couple of months and everything has to go perfectly in order to build up my reputation again. Seeing people conduct on the podium, especially during band camp, will feel like a total shot in the heart because of all the time and effort I put into my drum major audition. But, I look forward, once everything gets going again, to having a successful season.

One of the evening activities that happens during Band Camp at Camp Timber Tops is senior night. About 5-10 years ago, senior night used to be very violent and bully-like.  Its violent characteristics have been taken down a couple of notches of bullying incidents and injuries but, we are all looking forward to having a good time without damaging anything or hurting anybody. The seniors perform skits for everybody during the first part of the evening and then, get to prank everybody later in the evening while everybody is asleep. Whi;e I can’t say what we are planning on doing for both parts of the evening, I can say that it will be unique and is something that everybody will get a laugh out of.

I have been getting a lot done on my college applications over the past couple of weeks. Time is of the essence no matter how you break it down. With marching band taking a lot of time away from doing my college applications, I must get as much done as possible before all hell breaks loose. (Marching band). Also, I have to take the ACT’s for a second time. in a couple of weeks. I will be taking the SAT’s again during the first weekend of October. I wish that I could be comfortable with my scores from the spring but, right now, I am looking for all the points I can get. Going back to college applications, I have been thinking about the dreaded, college admissions essay! I have brainstormed many ideas and how I can fit them into a college essay. For my common application, I will be talking about Nick Muccia’s passing last November. The University of Maryland and Elon University each have their own essay prompts. I hope that not only am I making him proud by doing this, I giving my readers just a little bit of the type of person that he was.

In other news, I have finally found a girlfriend. Her name is Robyn Davis and she is going to be a senior at Randolph High School in the fall, same as me. I look forward to conquering all of the challenges that we will face and having a blast with her. I know that she will make me grow not only as a boyfriend but, as a man as well. Also, I am still working on uploading my People to People journal on WordPress and Everlater for everybody to enjoy. Typing out all the details is just very time consuming.

Thank you for reading my entry. Have an awesome and safe rest of your summer!
